How to Get Your Kotdwar Shop on Google Maps (Free, Step by Step)
When someone in Kotdwar searches "medical store near me" or "AC repair Kotdwar", Google shows a map with three businesses. Those three get the calls. If your shop isn't on that map, for most new customers it doesn't exist.
The good news: getting on Google Maps is free, and you can do it from your phone in about 20 minutes. Here's exactly how.
Before you start
Keep these ready:
- Your shop name, exactly as it appears on your board.
- A phone number you'll actually answer.
- Your opening hours, including the day you're closed.
- Five or six clear photos: the shop front from the road, the inside, and your products.
- A Gmail account. Create one for the business if you don't want to use your personal one.
Step by step
- Open Google Business Profile. Search "Google Business Profile" and tap "Manage now", or open the Google Maps app, tap your profile picture and choose "Add your business".
- Enter your business name. Use your real board name. Don't add words like "best" or "Kotdwar no. 1". Google can suspend profiles for that.
- Choose your category. Pick the closest one: "Pharmacy", "Hardware store", "Beauty salon". You can add more later.
- Add your location. Choose "Yes, customers can visit" and drop the pin exactly on your shop. Write the address the way locals say it, for example "Near Hanuman Mandir, Jhanda Chowk, Kotdwar 246149".
- Add phone and website. If you don't have a website, leave it blank.
- Verify. Google will ask you to verify, most often with a short video showing your board, the inside of the shop and something with the address. Follow the steps on screen. It can take a few days.
- Fill in hours and photos. Profiles with photos and correct hours get noticeably more calls.
After you're verified
- Ask happy customers for reviews. Share your review link on WhatsApp. Even ten honest reviews make a big difference in a town like Kotdwar.
- Reply to every review, good or bad, politely. People read the replies.
- Update holiday hours for Diwali, Holi and other closures.
- Add new photos every few months.
- Never buy fake reviews. Google removes them and can hide your profile.
Keep your details the same everywhere
Google trusts a business more when its name, address and phone number match across the web. Use exactly the same details on your board, your visiting card, Justdial, Facebook and your UK15 listing.

Common questions from shop owners
Is Google Business Profile free?
Yes. Creating and verifying a Google Business Profile is completely free. Be wary of anyone charging you for "Google verification".
How long does Google Maps verification take?
Usually a few days after you complete the video or other verification steps, though it can take longer.
Why is my shop not showing on Google Maps?
It may not be verified yet, the pin may be in the wrong place, or the category may not match what people search for. Check all three in your profile.
